Battery and energy storage

Battery and energy storage for homes and commercial buildings in Norway

Battery storage for homes and commercial buildings makes it possible to store solar power, reduce electricity bills and secure stable operation with high electricity prices and demand tariffs. We size and deliver complete battery solutions that withstand Norwegian climate.

How much battery capacity do you need?

Choose system type (residential or commercial) and drag the line below – we suggest a realistic battery size and give an idea of how many units are involved. This is an indicative calculation, not a final design.

Solplanet Ai-HB G2

Modular high-voltage home battery – 20.48 kWh per module, up to 163.84 kWh per stack.

*Indicative calculation. Final battery sizing depends on power, load profile, inverter and installation. We review the numbers together before any final offer.

Battery storage in Norway – what makes sense?

Whether battery storage pays off depends on electricity prices, demand tariffs, consumption patterns and how much you want to protect yourself against outages. Below are some guidelines for Norwegian conditions.

Battery storage for homes

  • Typically relevant for homes with solar and annual consumption from around 10,000–30,000 kWh.
  • Battery storage increases self-consumption of solar power and can reduce electricity bills over time.
  • Provides more secure operation in areas with frequent or critical outages, e.g. for heat pumps and lighting.
  • Correct sizing is about balancing investment, comfort and flexibility.

Battery storage for commercial buildings

  • Often used to cut demand peaks and reduce grid tariffs and demand charges.
  • Can be combined with solar and a control system for load shifting and optimisation.
  • Backup can be provided for critical loads such as IT, refrigeration/freezing or production.
  • For larger buildings, battery storage is usually evaluated together with energy monitoring (EMS).

How we support installers

  • We provide indicative input based on load profiles, electricity use and the customer’s goals with battery storage.
  • We share product data and experience on the interaction between solar, batteries, charging and other technical systems.
  • We support installers with technical specifications, recommendations and documentation from the manufacturer.
  • Installers get a clear decision basis for final sizing, design and solution choice.

How we deliver battery solutions to installers

Sun Net Norge is a supplier of battery solutions and delivers products, product information and support to approved installers and electrical contractors.

All sizing, design, installation and commissioning is carried out by authorised installers.

1

Product selection and advisory

We assist with product information, guidance and experience regarding choice of battery solution based on the customer’s needs. This forms the basis for the installer’s further work with design and sizing.

2

Design by the installer

The installer evaluates capacity, power, placement, safety and technical requirements, and prepares necessary documentation for the grid company and authorities. Sun Net Norge provides technical product data and specifications as support.

3

Delivery of the battery system

The battery solution is delivered from Sun Net Norge to the chosen installer, ready for mounting and connection. The products are prefabricated and factory-tested (FAT) according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

4

Installation and operation

Installation, commissioning, service and maintenance are handled by authorised installers. Sun Net Norge can assist with product support, documentation and dialogue with the manufacturer when needed.

Frequently asked questions about battery storage

Do battery systems need to be reported to the grid company?

Yes, battery systems are reported and designed by authorised installers. We assist in the process, coordinate with the grid company and deliver the necessary documentation.

Can we use the battery as backup during power outages?

Yes, typically for selected circuits/loads. We clarify needs in the pre-study and set up a safe and tidy battery backup solution tailored to your building.

What about fire and safety around batteries?

The solution has multi-layer safety and follows manufacturer requirements and Norwegian standards. Placement and safety distances are designed in each case and documented in the O&M documentation.

Does battery storage create value also without solar?

For commercial buildings, peak shaving and load shifting can provide good value also without solar. The battery can be planned on its own or together with solar, and we help assess what makes sense in your case.

Should you invest in battery storage?

Send us load data or a brief description – and you will receive a concrete proposal for a battery solution adapted to Norwegian electricity prices, grid tariffs and your building.
